Here in australia the same car is nearly usd50K !! In fact this EV has always been expensive compared to anything of similar size.I have no idea ho they make it SO cheap for the usa

I think the response from those of us here in the US is how could anyone possibly fathom spending $50k on one? I haven't driven one, but if been in and around one and they're impossibly cheap feeling, and they're in no way shape or form on the forefront of EV technology. That car has to be cheap here because it simply isn't competitive.
That said, I'm kind of interested by them. I might actually consider one as a daily if they got the price below $20k.
Nissan Leaf is probably a much better package for not much more money, though.

I can't imagine looking at any small EV without seriously examining the Volt/Ampera. (forget what they call it down under - Holden Volt?) Decent EV range with no range anxiety. I have had an extremely busy week and would not be able to make it if I had a leaf. Might barely make it with a big Tesla this week but it's out of my budget. But the Volt? No problem, not even slightly concerned about range. Most weeks I just commute back and forth, about 30 miles a day, and have enough EV range for not using any gas. But some weeks are like this one - I'm doing anywhere from 60-150 miles a day all week.

50k is the aussie price in US money. The US price is 23k MSRP, and if there is the the what 6K? tax credit then thats only 17k~ for a new one. Given I think the milage is really sad, barely goes like 80 miles on a good day.
